| Abstract: | This article discusses the need for a globalized approach to developmental science, as opposed to one that is primarily focused on North America and Europe. The lack of global diversity in research has led to a narrow range of cultures, experiences, and methods being represented, which limits the questions that can be asked about human development. The article highlights the importance of understanding the variation in development across different cultures and environments. The special issue of the journal includes articles from underrepresented regions, covering a range of developmental domains and methodologies. The authors argue that creating separate spaces for diversity-related topics can help address publication barriers and increase global representation in developmental science. They emphasize the need for a more valid, generalizable, and representative science of human development. [Extracted from the article] |
