Abstract: The editorial in Exceptional Children emphasizes a commitment to advancing equitable educational access for children with disabilities through four core goals. The second issue of Volume 91 features articles exploring equity and sustainability in special education, including challenges faced by special education professionals who are also parents of children with disabilities. The issue also addresses the ethnoracial diversity of the special education teacher workforce, the characteristics and challenges of paraeducators, policy analysis on reducing racial disparities in special education, and factors affecting sustained implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports in schools. The studies collectively highlight the need for comprehensive reform in special education to address workforce diversification, retention strategies, inclusive policy implementation, and community engagement.
