Abstract (English): The objective of this study was determine the relationship between coping ability and the formation of occupational identity in incarcerated women. This quantitative, descriptive-correlational research collected data using a checklist for coping styles and the OPHI-II instrument, applied to a non-probabilistic sample of 35 incarcerated women. Of the participants, 57.14% did not seek social support when facing personal problems, while 94.3% used coping strategies based on negative experiences. Regarding occupational identity, 57.1% exhibited difficulties in setting personal goals, and 74.2% struggled to identify occupational interests. In conclusion, no statistically significant relationship was found between coping ability and occupational identity, underscoring the need for targeted interventions to improve emotional management and participation in meaningful occupations among incarcerated women. Abstract (Spanish): El objetivo del estudio fue determinar la relación entre la capacidad de afrontamiento y la formación de la identidad ocupacional en mujeres privadas de la libertad. Esta investigación cuantitativa, descriptiva-correlacional, recolectó datos mediante una lista de chequeo para estilos de afrontamiento y el instrumento OPHI II, aplicado a una muestra no probabilística de 35 mujeres privadas de la libertad. Como resultado el 57,14% de las participantes no buscan apoyo social cuando enfrentan problemas a nivel personal, mientras que el 94,3% presentan estrategias de afrontamiento basadas en experiencias negativas. En cuanto a la identidad ocupacional, el 57,1% muestra dificultades para establecer metas personales y el 74,2% tienen problemas para identificar intereses ocupacionales. En conclusión, no se obtuvo una relación estadísticamente significativa entre la capacidad de afrontamiento y la identidad ocupacional, destacando la necesidad de intervenciones específicas para mejorar la gestión emocional y la participación en ocupaciones significativas en las mujeres privadas de la libertad.
