| Abstract: | This is a book review of an edited volume, authored by the mental health professionals associated with the organization, PsiAn, which is dedicated to defending the value of long-term psychotherapy. Most of the authors are psychoanalytic; however, other modalities like existential and humanistic psychotherapy are represented as well. The authors support their case with argument, and where relevant, research, and do not shy away from criticizing psychoanalysis. A number of authors stress the importance of adding social and cultural aspects to the way we think about diagnosis and treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
