Abstract: There is an increasing body of literature that examines the challenges that social work field education is currently experiencing in Canada, the United States, and other countries. What is missing is a greater understanding of how students perceive and navigate these challenges, as well as what they envision for the future of field education. This study used virtual dialog circles to explore Canadian social work students' perspectives on field education. Findings offer a rich description of the perspectives held by students on the value of field education, its presenting challenges, the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on field education, and the need to reenvision field education.
