| Abstract: |
The article examines the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the intersection of literary studies and the medical humanities, highlighting how the global health crisis has reshaped understandings of illness within various historical, political, and cultural contexts. It discusses the intensified relationship between individual and collective experiences of illness, emphasizing the importance of narrative medicine in recognizing and interpreting these experiences. The article also critiques existing scholarship for focusing primarily on personal illness experiences while neglecting the broader political and social implications of widespread diseases, advocating for a more integrated approach that considers the global dimensions of illness narratives. Ultimately, it calls for interdisciplinary discussions that connect literature, medicine, and global studies to better understand the complexities of illness in contemporary society.
