Abstract: The article offers science news briefs on recent advances in health, earthquake alerts, and electronic materials. It reports that complement pathway inhibition may help prevent or treat acute chest syndrome in individuals with sickle cell disease. It also describes the global rollout of an Android-based earthquake early warning system and a new method for producing highly crystalline indium selenide wafers with exceptional electronic performance.
