Abstract: This article explores the perspectives and experiences of trainee, trainee-adjacent and early career psychiatrists who are attempting a clinical academic career. Collective views are grouped under five themes – Fostering Agency, Barriers and Setbacks, Mentors and Self Care, Saying Yes to Serendipity, and Stability and Time.
