Abstract: The article focuses on the completion rates of breast cancer screening via mammography among older women Veterans within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). It highlights that, despite eligibility for screening, there is an 11% lower completion rate of mammography in women aged 70-72 compared to those aged 50-54, indicating potential underscreening in this demographic. The study utilized a cohort of 142,482 women aged 50-72 and employed inverse probability weighting to adjust for differences among age groups. The findings suggest that while VHA has established guidelines and reminders for screening, older women Veterans may still be underserved in terms of breast cancer screening.
