Abstract (English): Fatherhood, understood as a social construction, implies recognizing that it is influenced by historical, social, and cultural factors that, in turn, shape the precepts of hegemonic masculinity and gender norms. However, intersubjective experience can give rise to alternative ways of signifying masculinity and fatherhood. Through this article, we seek to explain what fatherhood means for two fathers who show support for their trans daughters. We assume that social constructions of fatherhood and experience nuance the meanings fathers give to exercising their fatherhood and that the way they do so enables their support. A qualitative study and an analysis of these fathers' narratives were conducted. The findings allow us to realize that the fathers' support for their trans daughters and the way they show it are associated with components of both traditional and active fatherhood. It was found that within the meaning of fatherhood, protection, care, love, and seeking the happiness of their sons and daughters were valued, which were present even before knowing their daughters' gender identity.
