Abstract (English): In the Holy Scriptures, wisdom is undoubtedly an important requirement for living well in this world. The wisdom books in the Bible are known for their great emphasis on wisdom. They were written by the wise men of Israel. Before the people of Israel, other nations already practiced wisdom, their literature mentioned wisdom, although their kind of wisdom was connected to magical practices. The kings had their wise men. Israel also had their wise men who were, for the most part, older people and who had the ability to observe life through their experiences in many different areas and to draw out of from them practical learning. The wisdom of Israel differed from others by being not only reflective but practical and because it had its source in Yahweh. The Lord is the one who gives wisdom, He is the creator of wisdom. Therefore, to be wise is to fear the Lord, to walk in His ways and to apply His commandments in daily life. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Portuguese): Nas Sagradas Escrituras, a sabedoria é, sem dúvida, um requisito importante para viver bem neste mundo. Os livros bíblicos sapienciais são conhecidos pela grande ênfase dada a sabedoria. São livros escritos pelos sábios de Israel. Antes do povo de Israel, outras nações já praticavam a sabedoria, tinham suas literaturas sapienciais, embora o tipo de sabedoria fosse ligado às práticas mágicas. Os reis tinham seus sábios. Israel também tinham seus sábios que eram, na maioria das vezes, pessoas de mais idade e que tinham habilidade de observar a vida com as suas experiências em suas mais diversas áreas e tirar delas um aprendizado prático. A sabedoria de Israel se diferenciava da de outros povos por ser não somente reflexiva, mas prática e ter sua fonte em Iahweh. O Senhor é quem dá sabedoria, Ele é o criador da sabedoria. Portanto, ser sábio é temer ao Senhor, andar em seus caminhos e aplicar os seus mandamentos na vida diária. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
