Abstract: This article focuses on the 2025 editorial and research contributions of *Exceptional Children* (EC), a leading journal aligned with the Council for Exceptional Children’s (CEC) mission to advance equity and diversity in special education. It reviews 18 articles published in 2025 that address systemic failures in equity, challenge essentialized views of culture and disability, and promote agentive learning for children with disabilities and gifted students through diverse qualitative and quantitative methodologies. The article highlights ongoing challenges such as workforce shortages, racial disparities among educators, and federal agency cutbacks, while emphasizing the importance of culturally responsive practices, systemic interventions, and inclusive education as civil rights. The current 2026 issue continues this focus with six studies exploring individualized instruction, social-emotional learning, telepractice, speech services, culturally adapted caregiver training, and bilingual education, collectively advancing theoretical and methodological diversity to support the educational well-being of exceptional children.
