Abstract: This study investigates the structural relationship between emotion regulation, relationship obsessive-compulsive disorder (ROCD), and romantic relationship quality. Using data from 495 Iranian participants and structural equation modelling, we found that cognitive reappraisal did not directly affect relationship quality but reduced obsessive thoughts, offering a protective role. In contrast, emotional suppression predicted lower relationship quality and higher ROCD symptoms. Interestingly, compulsive behaviors showed a positive association with relationship quality, suggesting certain vigilance may enhance perceived connection. These findings highlight the importance of targeting emotion regulation and ROCD symptoms to improve relationship outcomes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
