| Abstract (English): | Hazardous alcohol use (HAU) is a matter of significant academic and public health concern. This study sought to explore factors associated with HAU among emerging adult students enrolled in public institutions offering evening secondary education in Santa Marta, Colombia. A cross-sectional design was employed with 361 secondary school students, in whom religiosity, knowledge about mental health, and HAU were assessed. Having paid employment (OR = 2.95; 95% CI 1.61–5.39) and Catholic religious affiliation (OR = 2.34; 95% CI 1.30–4.22) significantly increased the risk of HAU. Hazardous alcohol use among emerging adults attending evening secondary school was significantly associated with employment status and Catholic religious affiliation. These findings reinforce the influence of cultural and social factors in risk prevention. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
