Abstract: This study was an integrative literature review aimed at identifying the structure and effectiveness of intervention programmes for postpartum women experiencing depression in East Asian countries. The existing literature was searched in electronic databases such as PubMed, CINAHL, Embase, Research Information Sharing Service, Korean Studies Information Service System and DBPIA. The keywords were as follows: 'East Asia', 'postpartum', 'childbirth', 'depression', 'intervention', 'education', 'therapy', 'counselling', 'treatment' and 'programmes'. Ultimately, seven studies were identified and analysed, including three randomised controlled trials and four with quasi‐experimental designs. All included studies were conducted between 2003 and 2023. Three studies implemented indirect education interventions, which included informational booklets, mobile applications and telephone‐based support. Four studies were activity‐based interventions, such as exercise programmes, music therapy, hand acupressure therapy and sports massage. The outcomes of these intervention programmes for postpartum depression in East Asian women were categorised into psychological and physical/behavioural effects. The findings suggest the need to explore effective strategies for postpartum depression prevention and intervention among East Asian women. Therefore, governments and healthcare institutions must consider cultural contexts when designing and implementing intervention programmes and seek feasible strategies for their practical application.
