Abstract: Rushton bodies (RBs) are eosinophilic, hyaline structures often seen in odontogenic cysts; however, their origin remains a subject of debate. This report documents the histologic presence of RBs in two distinct cystic lesions – a radicular cyst and an odontogenic keratocyst (OKC) – both exhibiting varying degrees of inflammation. In the radicular cyst, RBs were predominantly located near areas of hemorrhage and chronic inflammation. In contrast, RBs within the OKC were closely associated with the epithelial lining. These differential patterns suggest that RB formation may arise from both epithelial secretions and blood-derived components, modulated by the local inflammatory microenvironment.
