Abstract: Traumatic dental injuries (TDIs) are considered the global public dental health concern. It affects all age groups of people physically, psychosocially, and also their oral health-related quality of life. The incidence of TDI has been described as a consequence of a complex interaction of various factors due to the multifactorial nature of TDIs' occurrence. In recent decade, various new factors or determinants for TDIs' occurrence in humans have been described by studies. Prevention is the most imperative strategy or aspect for controlling the prevalence of these injuries and mitigating the long-term sequelae. Thus, identification, understanding, and knowledge of predisposing factors, risk factors and causative factors, and their relation with TDIs is an imperative facet or strategy in the reduction of its prevalence. In this regard, a comprehensive review unveiling the important aspects/findings from the current evidence-based literature can be quite important and useful for the dental clinicians and researchers. Hence, the aim of the current comprehensive review article was to present and discuss the various new and emerging factors and different aspects and their impact on the prevalence of TDIs, and in addition, other important digital advancements in dental traumatology have been highlighted. An extensive search of literature from databases (PubMed, Cochrane, SciELO, and Lilacs) and manual searching from Google Scholar search engine was carried out, and subsequently, the important and relevant findings from current literature have been discussed in this review article.
