Abstract: The article discusses on the study that compares the effectiveness between lidocaine patch 5 percent, a noninvasive analgesic, and anesthetic-corticosteroid injection, in relieving mild-to-moderate carpal tunnel syndrome. The subjects of the study were 18 to 75 years old people who had history of clinical carpal tunnel syndrome. Each of them were randomly given either a lidocaine patch 5 percent or an injection of 0.5 milliliter of one percent lidocaine and 40 milligram of one percent methylprednisolone acetate. In the assessment of the study, it was found out that 80 percent of patients from the patch group reported to be satisfied with the treatment while only 59 percent from the injection group.
