Abstract: An interview with Per Bech, a psychiatrist, is presented. When asked about how he came into psychiatry and why he moved into the area of measurement early in his career, he recalls the time when he first came at the Psychochemistry Institute in Copenhagen under Professor Rafaelsen. Bech said that at that time, the professor at the psychiatric department wanted him to measure the experience of time in depressive patients. He also comments on the psychiatric rating scales that he had constructed
