Abstract: The article presents a survey in which a questionnaire seeking the experience of pediatricians caring for foster children was sent to 470 members of the American Academy of Pediatrics in Connecticut. Sufficient number of pediatricians in Connecticut seem to be devoted to caring for foster children, but major impediments remain, including deficit reimbursement for both primary and specialty health services. The institution of a medical passport can make needed information available and help to establish and aid standards of care.
