Abstract: The article examines the effectiveness regarding the use of Amitriptyline in treating mental depression at a hospital in India. Hamilton's Rating Scale for Depression was used to provide both target symptoms agreed rating scale. Physical examination and laboratory investigation were given to each psychiatric patient. Amitriptyline has been found to have no severe side-effects other than dryness of the mouth and constipation which have been frequently complained of. Other methods and findings of the study were also discussed.
