Abstract: The article discusses how the circumstances of the childhood of author Charles Dickens contributed to his creative development. Extraordinary creativity is described as a function of character that originates in exceptional early experience. The consciousness of the author is said to have been influenced by many successful relatives and friends of his parents who knew other people of culture, influence and power. Dickens was also influenced by his family's rich cultural life.
