Abstract: The article provides an overview of the efforts underway to set up a national infrastructure to back standardized quality measurement and reporting in the U.S. health care system. It provides general mechanics on the creation of the infrastructure as well as the key players in the process of providing quality landscape by various organizations. The key mechanics comprised elements such as national priority and goal-setting capacity, measurement of development and maintenance, evaluation and endorsement of standardized measures, and data aggregation and reporting. Moreover, it mentions different types of performance measures and target areas.
