Abstract: The article focuses on a study which estimated the worldwide mortality in men and women aged 15 to 59 years. Study authors compiled a database containing 3,889 adult mortality measurements in 187 countries between 1970 and 2010. Gaussian process regression was utilized to estimate the probability of death in people aged 15 to 60 years. Study authors found that adult mortality varies across countries and over time. They concluded that the prevention of adult death is a relevant part of global health and that routine monitoring of adult mortality should be emphasized.
