| Abstract: | The article discusses the Convention on Biological Diversity's (CBD's) 2020 targets, which includes 20 SMART (specific, measurable, ambitious, realistic, time-bound) targets for 2020. According to the authors, many nations have fallen short of CBD 2010 to reduce the rate of biodiversity loss. An analysis of the CBD's SMART targets, which takes an ecosystem services approach, ways they can be strengthened, and four main things the targets are missing, including functional diversity, environmental uncertainty and target adjustments, and interaction between the targets, is presented. |
