Abstract: The article discusses a study which examined whether genetic factors contribute to the development of coronary atherosclerosis or to myocardial infarction in existing coronary atherosclerosis. Individuals affected with the disorder were compared to those who did not to identify loci that predispose to angiographic coronary artery disease (CAD). Findings showed that a novel locus, ADAMTS7, was found in the comparison of patients with angiographic CAD versus controls.
