Abstract: In this article the authors discuss encounter as a dimension of social inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities. They are supportive of the role that encounter can play in promoting social inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities and are also supportive of the role that it can play in changing social processes which deter social inclusion.
