Abstract: This selection from notes written by Dr Buzzard for the guidance of the staff of NHP is published at the request of other appreciative users and as a contribution towards improving the standards of reporting which the editor above all would like to see. It should be of particular help to teachers of adult students who suffer from sluggish or ill-disciplined words, to research and specialist workers who have to convey findings to laymen unfamiliar with the special language of their topic, and, we hope, to intending contributors to this and oilier scientific journals.
