| Abstract: | The article discusses a delayed-choice experiment for the measurement of wave-particle complementarity in quantum systems. The authors performed the experiments using a Mach-Zehnder interferomefer in which the output beam splitter was inserted or removed after a photon had entered the device. Topics include how the experiment's design allows the authors to continuously change the tested photon's behavior from wave-like to particle-like, thus illustrating the inadequacy of a naive wave or particle description of light, the ability of a single quantum object to behavior as a wave or particle, and Bohr's complementarity principle, which states that how a quantum object acts depends on the measurement apparatus. |
