Abstract: The article focuses on the argument of doctor Alan Sugarman on the centrality of beating fantasies and the continuity between child and adult analysis. It states that beating fantasies originated from infancy as well as the child's relationship with the parents. It mentions that the conclusions of Sugarman supports the theory of Sigmund Freud on beating fantasy as the essence of masochism. It presents the case of the three-year-old Sarah who displayed sadomasochistic patterns in her behavior.
