Abstract: This article presents information about the book "Experiencing HIV: Personal, Family and Work Relationships," by Barry D. Adam and Alan Sears and "HIV Mental Health for the 21st Century," edited by Mark G. Winiarski. These two books complement each other by addressing from different vantage points and perspectives one problem of considerable importance to social work-people who are suffering from HIV/AIDS. Sociologists and AIDS activists Barry D. Adam and Alan Sears represent the voice of clients; Mark G. Winiarski, a clinical psychologist, expresses the views of clinicians and service providers. Experiencing HIV is based on qualitative interviews with 60 people with AIDS and 40 of their caregivers in Michigan and Ontario recruited through support groups, personal referrals by those who had already been interviewed, and the authors' contacts in the AIDS community. The sample is diverse and includes people of color, women, gay men and people who are currently using drugs or have used drugs in the past.
