Abstract: The article presents the author's commentary on a clinical case study of the psychiatric treatment of a seven-year-old girl with selective mutism, focusing on an analysis of one psychotherapy session for the girl. Topics addressed include aggressive aspect's of the girl's silence, her attitudes towards her therapist, and her engagement in play during the therapy session.
