Abstract: The article focuses on the application of radiopharmaceuticals as tools used for medical diagnostics and therapy in the U.S. A concrete example was the introduction of small quantities of radioisotope incorporated within a molecule into a patient's blood stream. Technitium-99m was considered the most commonly used isotope for diagnostic imaging. Its advantages are its short radiological half-life, its low energy gamma emission and its ease of incorporation into a wide range of carrier molecules. It has been regarded that the use of technitium-99m presents a safe and effective technique for the diagnosis of many diseases and cancers.
