| Abstract: | The author examines the failures of digital libraries and what users' expectations are. He argues that library professionals have failed to redefine themselves and to provide support for learning to further education. Libraries are advised to change and to focus on engaging the world and empowering people. The optimization of search engines is emphasized. Problems faced by libraries include shifting access points and variable persistence, massive distribution of information, and the necessity for building new indexing architectures. |
