| Abstract: | The article discusses the value of credit hours which are awarded at higher education institutions in the U.S. The article focuses on the transfer of credits at non-profit, for-profit, and online colleges as well as through internships and work experiences. Other topics include placement tests, curriculum review, and proposed regulations by the U.S. Department of Education. Comments are presented from Judith S. Eaton, president of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, Julia Wrigley, associate provost at the City University of New York (CUNY), and Marianne Durling, an instructor at North Carolina's Piedmont Community College. A chart depicting a hypothetical credit transfer for a mathematics students at CUNY is also presented. |
