Abstract: The article discusses an á la carte approach to buying low-use electronic databases. The discussion topics include paying only for actual digital content used instead of paying for unlimited access, the discovery layer or user interface that tracks usage and is a payment manager, and the ethical issue of cost management in libraries with limited budgets.
