Subjects: VISUALIZATION, PARTICULATE matter, CONSTRUCTIVISM (Psychology), CHEMICAL research, CHEMISTRY education in universities & colleges
Abstract: The article presents the results of a study examining the impact of order of visualization on students' particulate-level explanations for experiments including diffusion-effusion. The author compares the results of macroscopic versus particle views on particulate visualization. The article includes a discussion of psychologist Jean Piaget's theory of constructivism as applied to chemistry. Also presented are research methodology and results.
