Abstract (English): In February 2014, some 200 sub-Saharan immigrants who intended to reach Ceuta by swimming across the sea, were rejected by the civil guard with rubber balls and tear gas. Fifteen of them drowned. With this work we analyze, in the light of the International Law of the Sea, if with those acts Spain incurred some kind of international responsibility for not fulfilling the obligations it has contracted as a State in terms of rescue of people in danger at sea. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
