Abstract (English): For the social sciences, in general, the connection between the sociocultural and the biological is cause for distrust due to the deterministic imprint that has historically been given to the latter. However, the latter should not be confused with the heuristic potential of biology to explain human action, and the configuration of the social-cultural. In this text, the postulates of evolutionary biology, neurobiology, biosemiotics and the New Cognitive Science are explored to propose a possible explanation between biology and culture, and in a concrete way derive a hypothesis that explains, on the one hand, the emergence of the culture from the biological point of view, and on the other its role or function in the mechanisms and processes of the survival of our species. Abstract (Spanish): Para las ciencias sociales, en lo general, la conexión entre lo sociocultural y lo biológico es motivo de desconfianza debido a la impronta determinista que se le ha dado históricamente a esta última. Sin embargo, esto no debe confundirse con el potencial heurístico de la biología para explicar la acción humana y la configuración de lo social-cultural. En este texto se exploran centralmente los postulados de la biología evolutiva, la neurobiología, la Nueva Ciencia Cognitiva, y de manera más marginal, sólo con fines ilustrativos y complementarios, los de la biosemiótica para plantear una posible explicación entre biología y cultura, y de manera concreta derivar de ello una hipótesis que permita explicar, por una parte, la emergencia de la cultura desde el punto de vista biológico, y por la otra, su papel o función en los mecanismos y procesos de la sobrevivencia de nuestra especie.
