Abstract (English): Up to now archaeological attention has focused mainly on monumental architecture: building and plaza distributions, construction systems, and general decoration, especially elements such as facades, roof combs, friezes, and vaults among others. However, tools and implements employed in the construction process, and in the final details of both ceremonial and residential structures, have been left aside. This study presents a summary of examples these artifacts reported in the Maya area and thoughts on their implications in the evaluation of Prehispanic architecture. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Spanish): Hasta ahora la atención arqueológica se ha enfocado principalmente en la arquitectura monumental, la distribución de edificios y plazas, el sistema constructivo o la decoración en general, en donde se destacan elementos constructivos en fachadas, cresterías, frisos, bóvedas, entre otros. Sin embargo, se han dejado de lado los instrumentos y utensilios que fueron empleados en el proceso de trabajo y en los acabados finales de tales edificaciones, tanto ceremoniales como habitacionales, que resultan de interés para conocer su elaboración. En este estudio se presenta un análisis y resumen de algunos alisadores reportados en el área maya y una reflexión sobre sus implicaciones en la evaluación de la arquitectura prehispánica.
