The article analyzes the Cuban reform process (2006–2018) from a specific framework: welfare regimes. With this lens, three areas are explored: labor markets, social policies, and family orders. The analysis helps show how the relationships of state, market, and society are being shaped, and how this affects the Cuban gender "orders," or hierarchy. Specifically, it will be interesting to investigate whether the change process in Cuba is having a specific impact on women; if so, what kind of impact; and how it is produced. The article argues that recent changes in Cuba are gendered in their approach, deployment, and results, and it reproduces important inequalities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
