| Abstract (English): | The digital and postmodern age is two-faced like the god Janus. Ours is, indeed, a paradoxical time because, on the one hand, transhumanism promises us a hopeful future, conditioned to the unlimited development (in ethical and legal terms) of biomedicine and genetic engineering, in which, according to its predictions, it will be possible to eradicate practically all the diseases that afflict humanity; on the other hand, this scientific approach, defended by the transhumanist project through the unrestricted use of NBIC technologies, entails the substitution of the traditional medical paradigm, that of the therapeutic model, for a "superior" model, whose goal is the improvement and "perfection" of the human being, in which the most vulnerable would not fit. | Abstract (Spanish): | La era digital y posmoderna tiene un rostro bifronte como el del dios Jano. La nuestra es una época paradójica porque, de un lado, el transhumanismo nos augura un futuro esperanzador, condicionado al desarrollo ilimitado (en términos éticos y jurídicos) de la biomedicina y la ingeniería genética, en que, según sus previsiones, se conseguirá erradicar prácticamente la totalidad de enfermedades que aquejan a la humanidad; de otro lado, este planteamiento cientificista, defendido por el proyecto transhumanista a través del uso sin restricciones de las tecnologías NBIC, supone la sustitución del paradigma médico tradicional, el del modelo terapéutico por un modelo "superior", que se dirige a la mejora y el "perfeccionamiento" del ser humano, en el que los más vulnerables no tendrían cabida.
