| Abstract (English): | In 1913 coinciding with the reestablishment of university studies in La Laguna, women were granted access to higher education. From the beginning, they enrolled in the degrees that were offered. A modest presence but, undoubtedly, worthy of being taken into account. On their own initiative, these women reached the goal of gaining access to university studies in the first third of the 20th century in the geographic, social and cultural context of the Canary Islands. Without breaking completely with the model of femininity of the time, they dared to venture into the academic world, until then a space reserved for men exclusively. They were pioneers in overcoming obstacles and social beliefs, just as their contemporaries did in other zones of Spanish territory. The purpose of this work is to investigate and get to know the women who began higher education in the Canary Islands. Following the historical-educational methodology, several documents and bibliographic funds were consulted. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
