Abstract (English): Javier Milei won the Argentine presidential elections on 19 November 2023 to the astonishment of his detractors in Argentina and a large part of international public opinion. His incendiary discourse against la casta and his groundbreaking promises catapulted him to stardom on television, from where he began to articulate an electoral platform around a political identity with no roots in Argentina: libertarianism. However, in order to win the final victory, Milei had to articulate this new identity with the sedimentation of the previous period, presided over by the dichotomy generated around la grieta. From the perspective of Political Theory, we will question the specificity of this articulation and its particular use of antagonisms in order to understand the reasons for its success. We will explore the challenges and risks posed by Milei’s mandate in terms of civil rights and liberties, democratic memory policies and a whole series of elements that seemed to form part of an unquestionable political and social consensus. Abstract (Spanish): Javier Milei se alzó con la victoria en las elecciones presidenciales argentinas el 19 de noviembre de 2023 ante la mirada atónita de sus detractores en el país hispanoamericano y de buena parte de la opinión pública internacional. Su discurso incendiario contra la casta y sus promesas rupturistas lo catapultaron al estrellato en los platós televisivos, desde donde comenzó a articular una plataforma electoral en torno a una identidad política sin arraigo en Argentina: el libertarismo. Sin embargo, para alzarse con la victoria final, Milei tuvo que articular esa nueva identidad con la sedimentación del periodo anterior, presidido por la dicotomía generada en torno a la grieta. Nos interrogaremos desde la Teoría Política acerca de la especificidad de dicha articulación y su particular uso de los antagonismos para comprender las razones de su éxito. Exploraremos los desafíos y riesgos que representa el mandato de Milei en materia de derechos y libertades civiles, políticas de memoria democrática y toda una serie de elementos que parecían formar parte de un consenso político y social incuestionable.
