| Abstract (English): | From a documentary historical perspective, the commercial expansion of telecommunications systems from first-world countries that have maintained a dominant presence in Mexico for 100 years is analyzed. The activated FM receiver in cell phones, which Apple has decided not to activate, serves as an example of the need to regulate the power of multinational corporations, which diminishes visibility in public communication and social media. Neither the public pressure from authorities, industry, and civil society in Mexico, Canada, nor the United States has succeeded in dissuading the iPhone from allowing such signals on its devices, thereby favoring the sales of headphones, music services, and mobile broadband data payments. | Abstract (Spanish): | Desde una perspectiva histórica documental, se analiza la expansión comercial de los sistemas de telecomunicaciones de países de primer mundo, que han mantenido una presencia dominante durante 100 años en México. El receptor activado de FM en los teléfonos celulares, que Apple decidió no activar, representa un ejemplo de la necesidad de regular el poder de las transnacionales, que reducen visibilidad a la comunicación pública y los medios sociales. Ni la presión pública de autoridades, industria y sociedad civil en México, Canadá y Estados Unidos han logrado disuadir que iPhone utilice dichas señales en sus equipos, favoreciendo las ventas de audífonos, servicio musical y el pago por datos de banda ancha móvil. O receptor ativado de FM nos telefones celulares, que a Apple decidiu não ativar, representa um exemplo da necessidade de regular o poder das transnacionais, que reduz a visibilidade da comunicação pública e das redes sociais. Nem a pressão pública de autoridades, indústria e sociedade civil no México, Canadá e Estados Unidos conseguiu dissuadir o iPhone de permitir tais sinais em seus equipamentos, favorecendo as vendas de fones de ouvido, serviços musicais e pagamento por dados de banda larga móvel.
