| Abstract (English): | When Garcilaso de la Vega and Guaman Poma affirmed the existence of pre- Columbian "philosophers", they were reflecting, in advance, on a possible phi losophy beyond the limits of the West. This article, based on a reading of the Comentarios reales and the Nueva corónica, attempts to provide some insights into the understanding that both Andean writers had of pre-Columbian philosophy. Since both texts show a strong Hispanic influence, we cannot find in them a reliable vision of the ancient "philosophers", but their proto-ethnographic descriptions implicitly carry a resemantization of the term amanta. Likewise, I will point out the contributions of Garcilaso and Guaman Poma to the understan- ding of a philosophical attitude different from the one canonised by the West. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
| Abstract (Spanish): | Cuando Garcilaso de la Vega y Guaman Poma afirmaron la existencia de "filó- sofos" precolombinos estaban reflexionando, anticipadamente, acerca de una posible filosofia allende los límites de Occidente. El presente artículo, a partir de la lectura de los Comentarios reales y de la Nueva corónicos, intenta dar algunos alcan- ces sobre la comprensión que ambos escritores andinos tuvieron sobre la filoso fia precolombina. Debido a que ambos textos muestran una fuerte influencia hispánica, no podemos hallar en ellos una visión fidedigna de los "filósofos" antiguos, sino que sus descripciones proto-etnográficas llevan implícitas una re- semantización del término amanta, Así mismo, se señalarán los aportes de Garci- laso y Guaman Poma para la comprensión de una actitud filosófica distinta a la canonizada por Occidente.
