| Abstract (English): | The use of cannabis is increasingly common in several countries. In the case of Mexico, prohibitionist strategies to eradicate drug use were useless and brought with them greater harm than the substances themselves. Recognizing the existence of a market and the risk of increased criminality, Uruguay was the first country offer different routes of legal access to cannabis. This article aims to analyze the process of normalizing the use of cannabis in Uruguay, and which of the strategies implemented could be useful in Mexico. The research is of a documentary nature, in which the web pages and reports that track the results of cannabis regulation strategies were consulted. It was found that there are alternatives for gradual progress in the normalization of cannabis in Mexico. Although the normalization of cannabis in Mexico is possible, this process becomes more complex when observing the context of our country, that is, the cultural and social effects of violence derived from the conflict between criminal groups and the government. | Abstract (Spanish): | El uso de cannabis es cada vez más frecuente en varios países. En el caso de México, las estrategias prohibicionistas para erradicar el uso de drogas, carecieron de utilidad y trajeron consigo un daño mayor que las sustancias por sí mismas. Al reconocerse la existencia de un mercado y el riesgo del aumento de la criminalidad, Uruguay fue el primer país en ofrecer diferentes vías de acceso lícito al cannabis. Este artículo tiene por objetivo analizar el proceso de normalización del uso de cannabis en Uruguay, y cuáles de las estrategias implementadas podrían resultar útiles en México. La investigación es de carácter documental, en la que se consultaron las páginas web e informes que dan seguimiento a los resultados de las estrategias de regulación del cannabis. Se encontró que existen alternativas para un avance gradual en la normalización del cannabis en México. Aunque es posible la normalización del cannabis en México, este proceso se complejiza al observar el contexto denuestro país, es decir, los efectos sociales y culturales de la violencia derivada del conflicto entre los grupos criminales y el gobierno.
