| Abstract (English): |
This article presents the current context based on the challenges currently fraught in the field of peace promotion and then analyzes the main alternatives offered by international development cooperation with a peace perspective. Thus, in the midst of an adverse scenario, it is essential to revive the principles of positive peace and emphasize the need to focus on eliminating violence--not conflicts--and on promoting social cohesion between citizens, the State, and/or different communities. This approach seeks to transform relationships, strengthen capacities to prevent violence, and peacefully manage conflicts, thus fostering more just and lasting relationships. The aim is to seize the opportunity for Spanish Cooperation to use this moment of reform to move from a Peacebuilding Strategy to a Peace Promotion Strategy and to evolve toward a more holistic approach and become a truly cross-cutting approach to all Spanish Cooperation. Este artículo presenta el contexto actual a partir de los retos que hoy en día tensionan el campo de la Promoción de la Paz para posteriormente analizar las principales alternativas que ofrece una cooperación internacional para el desarrollo con una mirada de paz. Así, en medio de un escenario adverso, resulta fundamental rescatar los principios de la paz positiva y destacar la necesidad de centrarse en la eliminación de las violencias -- y no de los conflictos-y en promover la cohesión social entre ciudadanía, Estado y/o diferentes comunidades. Este enfoque busca transformar relaciones, fortalecer capacidades para prevenir violencias y gestionar pacíficamente los conflictos, fomentando así relaciones más justas y duraderas. Se trata de aprovechar la oportunidad que tiene la Cooperación Española de utilizar este momento de reforma para actualizar la Estrategia de Construcción de Paz y convertirla en una Estrategia de Promoción de la Paz, que tenga un enfoque más holístico y se convierta en un verdadero enfoque transversal a toda la Cooperación Española.
