Abstract (English): This paper explores the relationship between modernism and fascism according to the theory of historian Roger Griffin, applied to the Brazilian context. It analyzes how the Brazilian fascist movement of the Integralist Action emerged from the modernism driven by the Week of Modern Art in São Paulo. The article highlights the Green-Yellow movement, whose leader, Plínio Salgado, used his modernist art and, in particular, his work O Estrangeiro, to radicalize and found the Brazilian Integralist Action, the largest fascist organization outside Europe. The article concludes by examining the role of modernist and integralist intellectuals who entered the state bureaucracy during Getúlio Vargas's dictatorship, the Estado Novo, and left their mark on its nationalist cultural policies and in the construction of a national identity.
