Abstract (English): The article addresses the tradition of pilgrimage in Chile, highlighting its long history and the way it has transformed over time. The sanctuaries, often located in remote places, attract pilgrims who walk long distances, although nowadays many choose to arrive by vehicle. Three main sanctuaries are analyzed: Andacollo, Lo Vásquez, and Yumbel, where it is observed that most pilgrims are men and women of various ages, with a relatively high level of education. The pilgrimage is presented as a family and community act, although it has been affected by modernization and a lack of ecclesiastical support. [Extracted from the article]
[Extracted from the article]
